Insurance & Direct Billing

 

Many people want to begin therapy but feel unsure about how insurance coverage or reimbursement works. I try to make this part of the process simple and transparent.


I offer online psychotherapy for adults across Ontario, and most extended-health plans reimburse therapy with a Registered Psychotherapist (RP). 


Depending on your insurance provider and the details of your plan, direct billing may also be available.

Online Psychotherapy in Ontario

If your plan allows it, I can submit the claim directly to your insurance company on your behalf. This means you don’t have to pay the full session cost upfront and wait for reimbursement.


Here’s the basic process:

  1. Book your session.
    We confirm your appointment for online therapy.
     
  2. Check your plan.
    You can contact your insurance provider or check your benefits portal to see whether your plan covers psychotherapy with a Registered Psychotherapist and whether direct billing is allowed.
     
  3. Session + Submission.
    If your plan supports it, I submit the session invoice directly to your insurer.
     
  4. You pay only the difference (if any).
    If your plan covers the full amount, there is nothing additional to pay. If it covers a portion, you pay the remaining balance.
     

If your plan doesn’t allow direct billing, I provide a detailed receipt that you can submit for reimbursement.


 

Coverage varies, but many extended-health plans include psychotherapy under “Registered Psychotherapist” or “Mental Health Services.”

  • Blue Cross
     
  • Equitable Life
     

Because plans differ widely, it’s always best to check:


  • Does my plan cover psychotherapy with an RP?
     
  • Is direct billing allowed for psychotherapy?

    I’m happy to help walk through this if you’re unsure.


 My goal is to make therapy as accessible and straightforward as possible. Many people delay getting support because they’re worried about cost or unsure how reimbursement works. Direct billing, when available, can remove some of that stress and make it easier to focus on the work we’re doing together.
